Vic Firth's Marching Percussion 101

Posted: Sun Aug 02, 2009 6:44 pm

This has been around for some time now, but I figured I'd share it with anyone who hasn't seen it. Lots of it is rather basic stuff, but it's pretty helpful to have things broken down to simplest form.

I hope this helps you guys that help run or completely run your line, instruct, or want to instruct. It's helped me a bit. :D

Guess I'll sticky this for future references.

I really liked when he was talking about how hard it is to hear anything else going on when your playing in a drumline. If only wind players realized that...

Brian Mason wrote the music for the show my high school is doing.

But anyways, thanks for posting it... I have never seen it before.

Word, for anyone just getting into instructing, this is very helpful. Good job Vic Firth, something I can use.

It's an amazing series. It's great for beginners to hear about the techniques of each exercise. And since it's not coming from their teacher they'll actually listen to it.

I dunno how to post this as an actual embembed video, as the the person who uploaded the vid made it "Unlisted." So I had to save it to my favorites or I wouldn't be able to find it again.
