Tablets: The Future Of Teching?

Posted: Sun Nov 02, 2014 10:55 am

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask around here and see if anyone had any tablet recommendations for the instructor side of drumline! I've seen my techs using iPads but I'm looking for something a little lower cost if possible, and maybe better suited for the activity. Seems pretty convenient to have the drill and music juxtaposed on one screen, rather than flipping through my binder on a windy day like I've been doing.

I've only used an iPad instead of binders. It has the power I need and the apps that work great for drill and scores. I don't know what apps exist to view drill or scores other than PDF's for Androide powered devices.

I'm not sure how much better suited you can get than an iPad for the activity to be honest. Speed, power and large screen size. What more do you need?

That does sound good, I might have to spring for on older model or refurb I guess with my lucrative salary...Haha. Screen visibility under sunlight might be another consideration though.

It's still better than a notebook. I've been binderless for two fall seasons now.

I can also use an app called NanoStudio in a pinch as a sampler through the sound system from my iPad.

I'm a total apple fanboy, but you might also want to look into the Microsoft surface. Amazon's fire is also stupidly cheap but I don't have any experience with those.

I'm using a second generation iPad and its lasted me a good long time. You don't have to have the latest air model for the iPad to be helpful. Its just about having all of your information in one place that isn't awkward to carry around the field.
