The mccormick longranger is break in the bank, does anyone have options or suggestion like using a guitar amp etc?

The answer would really depend on what you’re specifically trying to achieve. Long rangers have the megaphone shape to them allowing whatever you’re trying to broadcast through them to radiate towards a specific area without much excessive sound reverberation. Whereas a guitar amp goes for the blanket effect radiating as much sound as possible. For metronomes the 'Long Ranger' is the better choice since it gives more control of where you aim the sound. For playing accompaniment the guitar amp will yield a fine result for you. If neither of these two seems to workout I would suggest looking at different amplifiers and speaks to see which will yield you the most preferable result.

you could take your metronome and using an earphone have it play through in your ear while you use a gok block

Both are around the 200 range. Which is way less expensive than a Megavox. We used the MiPro for visual rehearsals over the summer, so it should be fine for marching band use. Its plenty loud for most high schools.

The MegaVox is built really really well. Their wireless transmitters aren't the best, but if you're looking for something to plug the met into, it's a great option. They're also not as heavy as a long ranger and comes with a carrying strap. It's super convenient.

Yeah, they are the best alternative I've seen. I haven't had any problems with the wireless systems, but ours are pretty new.

Guitar amp or bass amp works fine. One band I worked for always had the pit in the back of the field, so we ran the met through the mixer. You can purchase a Bluetooth audio receiver for about $80 to plug into whatever amplification you use and run a metronome off your phone wirelessly from up to 30 feet away (Dr. Betotte for iOS looks and sounds just like Dr. Beat and is maybe $10).
