When's the next chat? I just read this thread, and am a newbie teacher (still in college), but would love to have a roundtable with veterans and newcomers alike. We can all benefit in some way from discussing percussion methods, I feel.

In general we just try to meet every Sunday at 9PM Eastern. Sometimes we have enough people for a good discussion, sometimes we don't, but it's always worth checking in to see.

Let's get together this Sunday at 9PM ET for a summer wrap-up. We can talk about DCI Finals and maybe share tales of our summer band camps.

I have the G+ broadcast feature working now, so we should be able to open this up to everybody on the forum. I'll try to get details about how to connect posted on Saturday.

Are you guys up for doing a couple chats this month? I was thinking we could do a solo & ensemble chat this week, since it's S&E season in many states. The next chat after that could be about indoor drumline topics, since the WGI season is about to start.

I also want to see if we can work through the new Google+ Communities to get more people involved. I know many good instructors on G+ and Drumchattr who aren't on SS, and I would love to get them involved. We can have up to 10 involved in that chat, so we'll have to keep it to the instructors, but we could use the broadcast feature to let the high school kids watch if they want to. We could do some Q&A with them through the G+ Communities.

James, Bill, others, are you up for 8PM this Sunday?

With my move to Texas coming up in just a few months, I'd like to start learning/hearing about different teaching techniques and strategies. Especially with younger kids. Would you guys mind if I chimed in as well?

My mom teaches music at Eden Park Academy in Austin and I'm going to be taking over her percussion class once I get there, so that's how I'll be starting off. Eden Park is a small charter school and they have grades K-9, so that's why I ask about teaching the little ones, if anyone has experience/knowledge in that realm.

I posted in the G+ group. I cannot be there this Sunday or next because of prior commitments, but the Sunday after would work for me.

It's honor band season, so the indoor group is rehearsing on Sundays at the moment. It makes for a long weekend.

I taught K-8 general music for 3 years, while teaching high school drumlines in the evenings (I teach middle school band now). I'll definitely hook you up with some info. Send me a PM to remind me, and I'll email you some tips and materials I suggest.

You should definitely join us on Sunday. It's nice to have a mix of experience levels in the conversation, from 1st year teachers all the way up the the vets. Sometime we need to do a chat on teaching introductory percussion to children and adults.

I'm sorry! D:
And I'll be honest, I totally wasn't dressed to impressed. I've been in comfy clothes in front of the computer all day trying to mix a song in Logic Studio for my Music Production and Arranging class.
I WIll, however, be prepared for next time WITH material to talk about thought out in advance so I don't make a complete noob of myself.

I'd like to listen in as well. I don't teach a line, but I teach privately.
I play and teach music (sometimes even band music!)

I work in music tech and licensing.

Music is an art and positive energy.
