What?
It makes perfect sense to me. It's just extremely vulgar. As you can tell by all the beeps.
Doesn't seem like a good saying IMO.

Doesn't seem like a necessary saying at any level.
My posts are mine and mine alone.
They do not now or in the future represent any group, person (both living and dead) that I have been, am currently, or will be in the future associated with.

OK... then it was what I thought it was.
That will definitely NOT make the list.
Seems like this is turning into a thread about "That which will never be uttered on Schorsquatch's drumline"
Once again, I knew I could count on you guys for true inspiration.

"perfect, we never have to practice that again"-after we totally fail on a lick. been hearing that a lot because we just got show music, first time runs in rehearsals were pretty awful
I play and teach music (sometimes even band music!)
I work in music tech and licensing.

"Drumming is not just about ramming notes, its just as much about playing the rests.
Think of percussion as a sustained sound and you have to insert rests into it to create music. Without those rests its just noise."

I used that and it blew my kid's minds.

My response to this is "Gentlemen, this is a HACK FREE zone..."
Hacking is my pet peeve.
For sloppy playing during rehearsal...
"Gentlemen, this is a HACK FREE zone! Wait a minute? You were trying to play the music? Oh well, my bad, carry on..."
I also started using the NATO phoenetic alphabet to describe terms that adults aren't supposed to use around/at students:
Bravo Alpha = Bad Ass
Charlie Foxtrot = Cluster *beep*
You get the idea
Without a metronome its not drumming, its just hacking.

Two of my personal favorites of my own design:
"Check in."
"Ring ring! Hold on... *pull out phone* Hello? Oh hey! *pull phone away from head* It's you guys phoning it in!"
Two of my favorites I have heard others say:
"Don't get lost in the reps!"
*The instructor bends down and acts like he is collecting something. He then offers 'full' arms to the bassline* "Basses. These are all of the notes you dropped."
