Short and Sweet Tech Sayings
Posted: Fri Mar 04, 2011 9:43 am
I have heard some awesome tech insights at snarescience that sum up a core concept in a short, sweet, and often funny saying.
I'd like to compile a list of these sayings here, so feel free to contribute.
The only thing I ask is that it be relevant to drumming. Don't need to hear insights on girlfriends, moms, or Justin Bieber.
Thanks!
Thus Far:
"Don't let your left hand be the dead head of a two headed cow."
"If you want to play this drum (grabs drum), you gotta play the big drum (stomps on ground)."
"A trash can full of rocks, rolling down a hill was cleaner than that. Clean It Up"
"Never be afraid to play in time"
"Basses! That sounded like a buffalo farting in a bathtub, play it again!"
"Effortless power, not powerless effort"
"Don't do a rep for a rep's sake. Do it to improve something"
"Don't be a drummer, be a musician. Pay attention to dynamics, they are there for a reason."
"Every stroke tells you what to do to make the next one better."
"Accents make the music."
""Hey snares, the tenors are playing $%# tight tonight so you guys better step up."

Okay... reading that again, its not really an improvement. I think I'll pass on adding anything with "the guy inside you" to the list.koopthepoopscoop wrote:WRONG APRIL. It was hear the drum of the guy inside you, feel yours. DUHHHHHschupsss wrote:"You gotta feel the guy inside you"

Play through the drum, not on it.
Effortless power, not powerless effort
Don't do a rep for a rep's sake. Do it to improve something.
Don't be a drummer, be a musician. Pay attention to dynamics, they are there for a reason.

That's a standing comment on my drumline. But its worth it for all those snare players out there.Jetpoweredface wrote:Just last weekend:
