PracticePad - forum release for beta testing

Please test this out and provide feedback in this thread. There was a ton of new programming involved, so I wouldn't be surprised if you guys manage to find bugs.

I want to keep this to forum members / lurkers only for now, so please don't post it to facebook or anything quite yet.

PracticePad - phase 1

[x] Practice individual exercises at different tempos with VDL practice mp3s.
[ ] Practice individual exercises at different tempos with metronome click tracks, including quarter notes, half notes, and whole notes.
[ ] Add practice mp3s with simultaneous VDL + click track sounds.
[ ] Add slower tempos.
[ ] Test mp3 delivery system to ensure support for all browsers, including mobile.

PracticePad - phase 2

[x] Create and save custom practice routines that will auto-run from start to finish.
[ ] Easily share practice routines to snarescience forums, facebook, twitter, etc....
[ ] Implement the Grid Generator!
[ ] More stuff that you guys will help me think of.

PracticePad - phase 3

[ ] TOP SECRET, and not even sure if it's technologically feasible, but if so, it will be amazing.

---

If you hadn't guessed, I'm ditching the practice mp3s for sale business model. These new features will be completely free for everyone to use.

This..is..awesome..this will be such a good tool for everyone from beginners that can use the recordings to learn 16th note timing to people that want to practice eggbeaters..you've outdone yourself..awesome logo as well haha

And the routines are brilliant..this will be so so so helpful..is there any way you could allow members to take routines and make mp3's of them to put on mobile devices? That would be really cool..maybe have it say the exercise name and the tempo then go into it

I think it might be helpful to have an option in the MP3 recording to have a metronome in the background. And also to have the option to repeat a measure or group of measures to work on stuff.

The possibilities for this are amazing..stuff from the transcription library could be feasibly added too..that would be really useful

This is really cool. I have some new practicing material for myself to work on grids & hybrids. It is going to make an amazing teaching tool as you develop it more. I have a private student who is already an SS member,so I am going to turn him onto this to work on some stuff. I'll let you get it out of beta before I send it to the rest of my students.

May I suggest some slower starting tempos for beginners, especially on Sanford Double Beat and the 16th Note Grid and Triplet Grid?

Slower tempos are in the works. I have heard this request from no less than 4 educators already. :)

This is really cool, especially with the warm-up index, and all the available tempos. it'll be really cool if you can put what's already in the transcription library into the program.

Really impressed, worth the wait.

This is fantastic! It's so great that I need to just sit here for a second and love it.
I saw that eventually you want this to be able to be supported by mobile devices, which I think would make it that much more awesome. I use my iPad a lot when I practice, when I get home I'm going to try and see if it works.

I tried to make a template practice program with Trip Grids Forwards and Backwards then Three Camps, and I keep getting this. The tempos are 130 and 140.

Invalid query: Data too long for column 'exercise_tempo' at row 1

just wondering if there is a way for me to fix this myself, or if the building routines part of the program is up and running yet.

on a side note. i freakin LOVE this idea. its so much easier to be more accurate when you can hear the correct way to play it. This could potentially revolutionize practicing for people who don't quite have the full understanding of what an exercise is SUPPOSED to sound like, rather than just playing random rhythms without the correct context.

The routine builder is operational. There must be a bug with the specific exercises / tempos you are adding. I will investigate when I get home from work.

Thanks!
