Hey everyone, just wanted to know what most of you guys use to practice on. For me its either the floor or this pretty cheap xylophone.

I want to do something like that but I don't want to completely ruin my mallets in the process lol

use broken mallets or if you don't have broken mallets you could get creative and make some

I practice a lot at school when I can, otherwise I use the floor, bed, pillows, table, blankets, whatever is available. I prefer a table with something to muffle the sound so that I can stand and watch for heights while I play in a mirror.

Dont forget guys you can practice permutations on anything, you dont need an instrument! I try to do reps of permutations in a few different tempos every day. I spend about 30 minutes a day on it. And no marimba needed! Pretty cool.

Got a crappy bell set that barely resonates. It's the bell set that isn't bright, but the bars also aren't like full heavy metal bars. Had it since 7th grade summer music. My mallets are also acrylic or rubber....BUT, I only use it at home, when I got good quality stuff at school. Thank God I only use mine for practicing the notes and rhythms

For permutations and just the motions the floor is good... otherwise I'm just stuck with getting to an instrument before/after school. I managed to get a marimba to my house for the summer, so that's *beep* awesome. You could look into that
