Mallet Arrangements

Posted: Mon Mar 02, 2015 8:34 am

I love arranging songs for front ensemble, but I can never come up with good songs to arrange. I like a lot of The Fray's music because it's pretty piano heavy and easy to find music for, but I'd like to branch out into other types of music as well. What are some songs you guys have arranged and what do you think would be good songs to arrange for front ensemble? I can post some of my arrangements as well if you'd like.

This is something I've been looking for as well. The Fray sounds awesome, I'd love to see those arrangements!

The Madison Scouts have some cool arrangements of popular music:

Love the way you lie / Stockholm

Usually I just listen to songs on Pandora or Spotify and think, "Hey that might make a cool arrangement" and save it for later.

Careful to secure permission from the copyright owner before you arrange.

If you're still looking: I use a site called Noteflight
You're allowed to arrange original music with the pre-recorded instruments, and can add in their notations. Plus millions of users have also created their own scores, that you can read AND listen to.

Imogen Heap is good for pit warmups. And radiohead and Coldplay.

I'm that guy who says he'll try out for drum corps next year and never does.
But I'm totally gonna try to march Alliance this summer.
