Hi everyone! I've been asked to play a solo at the next percussion ensemble concert, with the only requirements being that it's a marimba solo with percussion ensemble (like Marimba Spiritual). I'm currently a senior in college and just played Velocities at my senior recital, so it'd be nice to play something "prettier" although I'm honestly open to anything at this point.
Anywho, do y'all have any suggestions for pieces I should look into? Right now I'm really digging "Kala" and "Shadow Chasers" but I'm looking for other options.
Pieces I'm currently aware of:
Marimba Spiritual
Kala
Rounders
Cloud Forest
Shadow Chasers (and all of the other Burritt pieces)
Thanks

I would recommend Cold Light by Benjamin Finley. It's fairly pretty (well, I thought it was pretty), but still challenging enough to keep it interesting. It's in 7/8, will go into 5/4 and 6/8, and requires a 5 octave marimba for the soloist. The other four players are drumset, bells, vibes and marimba (4.3). Check it out on Tapspace for recordings and whatnot.
