It must be that. Maybe whatever program that person was using messed up how the notes were printed. It makes sense; whole notes, one roll annotation.Matt_1423 wrote:Maybe it's like a roll you play for the duration of that measure using those four notes.

So overall you would play this as:
Left hand: D and A
Right hand: F and Bb

I agree it would be awkward, but I think it would be a little more comfortable than trying to play the A and Bb in the same hand.joe356 wrote:That's actually a pretty standard way of notating a tremolo in the tonal notation world. That notation is often used on piano but not as much with marimba
