It goes without saying that this forum is for drum product reviews only; I also hope it goes without saying that you are not allowed to bash or flame anyone for liking/disliking a certain item. This is a productive website, not a drama-fest.

1) Have a previous history of using the product

2) Your review should be in-depth. So you thought the scojos were the worst pair of sticks you've ever laid hands on, but why? What was so good about those Ralph Hardimons you bought last month? Was that Jones DVD worth the cold hard cash? PROS: and CONS:, are just a couple of very organized outlines that could be used in putting a review together. Being informative should be the key word in mind when you're typing out a review.

3) Where can we find it? How much does it cost? Where can we find the lowest prices? Include a direct link (if possible) the item, or maybe a link to a list of items like it.

4) Include some helpful tips on using the item. This obviously doesn't apply with sticks or practice pads (unless there is a special reason), but maybe you have experience with a complex metronome or drum machine pad, or possibly a music writing program. Maybe your tips are something that would be really hard to figure out for someone else.

5) Including a picture is probably a good idea, not everyone has fast internet these days so giving them a preview might be helpful. Think about it, this website might be the first time they've even heard of a slimpad.

6) If you want to know if your thread was helpful, make the thread a poll instead. The poll would be "Did you find this review helpful?" with the options being Yes or No.

here is just one example of a well thought out review.

You do not have to go by these guidelines precisely, but a sense of professionalism is preferred. In other words, you don't have to use big words or bold every subject line in your review, but making it readable and informative is very helpful. If you post a review with some thought put into it, then the reader is probably well informed. If you post a review with two incomplete sentences with cliche' bashing of a product, you can guarantee that it will be deleted. Those types of threads provide no educational value.

*******=== A L S O ===********

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with posting your own extensive review inside a review if you feel the need to; just because one user posted a review doesn't necessarily mean that is the end all say all of review. Maybe you found a better price, found more uses, found a fatal flaw and a different version of the product that's entirely different. You don't have to agree, you don't have to disagree. Heck, you don't even have to have an opinion, but PLEASE DO NOT SPAM THIS BOARD. Staying on topic is also a very good idea, nobody wants to read two pages of why your mom makes you clean your room and eat all your green beans.

By posting these guidelines I'm not trying to be some kind of forum nazi, but more so helpful to EVERYONE.
